Would you risk everything to be cool?
Young Duggan McDuggan doesn’t see a choice. Her habit of talking to trees has made her the most teased kid in her tiny village of Cowgrass. Duggan would love to stop the teasing but there’s no way she’s going to give up her tree friends.
To get cooler, Duggan has devised a daring plan. With her Woodsy-Troll best friends, she’s decided to make the famously dangerous journey to Eshmagick, fabled realm of the Faeries. This will certainly stop the teasing. No one in five hundred years has made it there and back again. Mostly, they die or get eaten on the way.
To undertake their dangerous journey, Duggan and her friends will need a Faerie guide. Unfortunately, legend says harming a Faerie will bring down a terrible Curse and it’s hard to catch a tiny Faerie without it getting hurt. But Duggan is desperate and so she’s not about to let some stupid, old story stop her. But what if they mess up and the legend turns out to be true?
A 2018 Book Excellence Award Finalist, Duggan’s story is more than a wondrous fantasy tale (though it’s that, too). There’s also a moving story about friendship, loyalty, taking responsibility for one’s mistakes, and loving the natural world. As a plus, both the paperback and the e-book contain the web addresses to pages full of illustrations, animations, myths, back stories, games, puzzles, and more – pages to entertain, educate, and enrich the reading experience.
