Garfield’s Cyber Safety Adventures is an award-winning and engaging digital citizenship program developed by top cybersecurity professionals to teach basic internet safety to elementary age children.

Research shows that on average a child gets a smart phone by 10 years old. We have also found that 40% of elementary age children have already chatted with a stranger online with many having given them their personal information and even met them. We can no longer wait until they are in middle or high school to begin teaching them basic safety practices like online stranger danger, not sharing personal information, not sharing passwords and being kind online to others.

With this goal in mind, the nonprofit Center for Cyber Safety and Education teamed up with the cybersecurity professionals at (ISC)2; and legendary cartoonist Jim Davis to create a fun, entertaining and interactive way for the children to learn how to be safe and secure online. Garfield and his friends share real life cyber situations and with the help of Dr. Cybrina and her sidekick BISBY, learn what they should and shouldn’t be doing on the internet.

Nermal the Kitten finds himself in trouble while playing an online game. Garfield and Friends help Nermal learn that online friends are not the same as real friends.

In this adventure, Nermal learns the unintended consequences of sharing personal information on social media when he gets a little too excited posting selfies.
Cyberbullying, Be Kind Online
After jokingly posting an embarrassing picture of his friend, Otto the Octopus, Nermal the Kitten realizes that he was taking part in cyberbullying. Garfield and Friends learn online etiquette and how to avoid future cyberbullying situations.
