Tyler's mother promised to buy him a red toy car he spotted in a store window if he behaved well until his birthday. Tyler loved this toy and was determined to do the right thing: finish his food, put his toys back in their place after playing with them, fold his clothes properly before going to bed, and do all other day-to-day tasks correctly. But hardly had he received and enjoyed his toy, when he noticed a guest at his birthday party who was sad with no toy of his own. Tyler felt sorry for him, but could he just give away this car toy he had worked so hard to earn to make this fellow happy? M. C. Abushar, Ed. D., impressed me with her remarkable storytelling style and character development. She picked the story from the incident by the store window and artistically weaved it into Tyler's birthday party, employing just the right words and covering every necessary detail. Talking about the character development, I especially admired the way the author portrayed Tyler and his mother. Their actions seemed real to me. I saw in them a mother using an incentive to inculcate in her child good behaviors and a child doing all he can to win what he thinks is the most treasurable prize at this moment. The use of animals, specifically rabbits, as characters made the story more fascinating and impactful. Somehow, it appears children are more drawn to stories in which animals are the characters. This also means that the lessons portrayed through such characters will have a greater impact on kids. Children will learn wonderful lessons from Tyler and his mother. I appreciated the thorough editing done in this book. This is a well-written book that offers readers lots of benefits. I am rating this book five out of five stars for the positive values it portrays and for the exceptional editing done in it.

"Tyler's Promised Gift," written by M. C. Abushar, Ed. D., is recommended for children aged three to eight. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading other ones in the "Tyler the Rabbit" series.
