The newest title in the award-winning children’s book series by youth author Lotus Kay, Friends Lift You Up, tackles the subject of anti-bullying, how to be a good friend, and being kind towards others.
Friends Lift You Up tells the story of April and her best friend Tyla and how they sometimes don't treat each other the way best friends should. The book explores how their friendship evolves and delves into a number of issues kids deal with socially. An added bonus to the book is "Tips on Being a Friend" as well as Lotus's “Note from the Author” which outlines her story of feeling left out while in school and how hard it was to form friendships. “The relationships we have and how we treat others early in life can set the foundation for the relationships we have now and how we continue to treat others as we grow up.” The book is beautifully illustrated by artist Chey Diehl and published by Eifrig Publishing on recycled, acid-free paper.
Lotus began writing as a child and was published in magazines by age 15. She wrote her first book, More Beautiful Than Heaven, at age 16.
The books are part of the campaign Bears for Cares, founded by Lotus and her sister Jazmin as a project of Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots youth service program. Bears for Cares is a series of children’s books with companion stuffed animals which aims to educate kids around the world to understand the state of wildlife, the planet and promoting kindness towards the Earth and all living things.
Other titles in the series include More Beautiful Than Heaven, Billie the Octopus, A Thanksgiving for the Turkeys, and Jenny the Chimpanzee, which received a Mom's Gold Choice Award and an endorsement from Dr. Jane Goodall.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of all books and toys are donated to the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots program.
Lotus Kay is a youth writer, singer/songwriter and children's book author who has been published in a variety of media outlets including Thrive Global, Kindness Magazine, Green Child Magazine, Natural Parent, and many others.
