Lonely Luke was orphaned when a poacher killed his mother to gather her tusks for the illegal ivory trade. Luke’s story follows the dangers he faced as a baby elephant, how he was rescued by men from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and how, with their help, he grew up be a giant on the savanna. Lonely Luke is a fictional representation of the work these marvellous people do.
Each critteraweek picturebook covers the life-story of one critter, as told by that critter in its own words. Although obviously fiction, these informative, educational picturebooks rely on true facts and realistic life-circumstances to tell their stories. Paul's illustrations are amazing. Both kids and adults tell us our critter picturebooks are a fun read. Our main buyers to date have been primary grade teachers and grandparents.
