Audience: Families with infants, children or pregnant women

The Onelink by First Alert Environment Monitor features advanced sensing technologies that detect low-level carbon monoxide (CO), which typical CO alarms can’t detect, as well as built-in temperature and humidity sensors. Low-level CO can be a health hazard, especially for infants, children and pregnant women, causing headaches, vomiting, heart issues and more, while unregulated humidity can exacerbate children’s respiratory issues. The micro-designed, Apple HomeKit-enabled Environment Monitor delivers information on indoor atmospheric conditions and emergency notifications via users’ devices, helping them better ensure healthy air quality at home.

Equipped with a 10-year internal electrochemical CO sensor, the powerful monitor detects and notifies users via the Onelink Home App whenever CO readings register ten parts per million (compared with 30 parts per million for a standard CO alarm). This low-level sensing ability is particularly important for the health of children and pregnant women, as they are more susceptible to CO. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, there is a strong correlation between maternal exposure to low-level CO and low birth weights. Additionally, ambient CO can cause Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, which affects one in 1,000 live births. This vulnerability makes the Environment Monitor an invaluable tool for moms.

Warmer temperatures and high humidity can increase the existence of allergens, such as dust mite debris and mold – which irritate respiratory problems and childhood asthma. In fact, studies have linked mold to the tripling rate of asthma in the past 20 years. When a home’s humidity is more than 60 percent, the excessive growth of fungi and bacteria can contaminate ventilation systems, furniture, carpeting and insulation – posing a significant health hazard. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends maintaining a humidity range of 45-50% for optimal health conditions. With the Environment Monitor, moms can check humidity levels and be made aware if their home’s atmospheric conditions are not conducive to good health.

With its low-level CO, temperature and humidity sensors and constant accessibility while at home or away, the Onelink by First Alert Environment Monitor provides protection for those most vulnerable and peace of mind for those who care for them.
