The author, Beth McClure, is from Columbia, Missouri. She is currently living in Scotland as a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. Before that, she was an early childhood teacher in the United States for 20+ years. The inspiration for her children’s book came from spending two summers working at the Balmoral Estate and being a dog mom to Isla, a pug, who trekked around the beautiful estate with her. The book explores the life of the animals who live there, and the magic that is felt spending time on the estate in the Scottish Highlands.
