Leaving Kent State

Seventeen-year-old Rachel Morelli has been longing for her next door neighbor and crush, Evan, to return home from Vietnam. Rachel is sure Evan will be able to convince her dad to let her go to Pratt Institute to study art instead of Kent State University where her dad teaches. When Evan returns home injured, losing all of his own dreams, Rachel is on her own to find a way out of her sleepy little town. But first she will have to find some peace for Evan and survive one of the deadliest protests in modern American history: The Day the Vietnam War Came Home to America.
